Camera models
ParkWayz reads plates from the camera at the lane, so the camera does the recognition
and ParkWayz consumes the result — the plate, a snapshot and a confidence score.
The validated hardware is Hikvision's ANPR range. Other manufacturers are assessed on
request.

A capable low-speed parking camera that we can assess for your site. It is not part
of the validated set today, so treat it as a conversation rather than a shopping list.

Check current availability with your distributor — Dahua has since moved this
line on, and a newer equivalent may be the better buy.
Running something else? Send us the make and model. What matters is
whether the camera does the recognition itself and can post the result to ParkWayz —
if it does, supporting it is usually a mapping exercise rather than new development.
Confirm the exact model and firmware with us in writing before you order —
specifications and availability change, and regional model variants differ.
What ParkWayz needs from a camera
Plate recognition at the camera
An ANPR/LPR camera that reads the plate itself and reports it, rather than a general
CCTV camera sending video for someone to watch.
Reachable over your network
Each camera is registered in ParkWayz by IP address and location, so it needs to be
addressable from wherever ParkWayz runs. Give each one a static address or a DHCP
reservation, so its registration does not go stale.
One camera per lane direction
Entry and exit are separate readings, and the direction is stored on every event.
How many cameras a site needs follows from how many lanes you run.
What you get for each camera
Once a camera is registered, ParkWayz gives you:
- Online or offline status, so a camera that drops off is visible rather than silently
missing detections
- A detection count per camera, on the dashboard and in the camera list
- Its location, shown against every event it produces
- Every reading in the event log — timestamp, plate,
direction, vehicle type, access result, confidence score and snapshot
- Camera alerts in the alerts screen, with severity levels
- Grid and table views of the whole estate in management
A detection confidence threshold in system settings decides how strong a read has to be
before ParkWayz treats it as a plate.
Siting and quantities
Camera positioning, lens choice and lighting are scoped per site rather than prescribed
here, because they depend on the approach to the lane. These are the questions we work
through with you:
- How many entry and exit lanes, and is any lane bidirectional?
- Barrier-controlled, or free-flow with the plate recorded on the way past?
- Is there an existing barrier or access control system the decision has to reach?
- Lighting at the lane, and whether vehicles approach into low sun or headlights
- Any cameras already installed, and their make and model
- Cabling and power at the lane, and network reach back to the server
Already have cameras? Send the model numbers with your enquiry. If they
are Hikvision ANPR units there is a good chance they can be brought into ParkWayz as they
are, which takes the hardware cost out of the project.
